Quest’anno abbiamo festeggiato il mio compleanno a Tokyo Disneyland, uno dei due parchi divertimento Disney nelle vicinanze di Tokyo, precisamente nella prefettura di Chiba 千葉. Tokyo Disneyland il classico parco divertimenti Disney, realizzato seguendo la struttura di quello a Orlando, in Florida, con attrazioni come Splash Mountain o la Haunted Mansion e aree tra le quali Fantasyland e Adventureland. Invece DisneySea è qualcosa che si può trovare solo in Giappone, ed è riservato ai film Disney a tema marino, come ad esempio La Sirenetta. A quanto pare DisneySea attira un pubblico più adulto ed è una delle destinazioni più popolari per gli appuntamenti di coppia.
Essendo grandi fan dei classici film Disney, per questa volta abbiamo optato per Disneyland, ma sono sicura che presto visiteremo anche DisneySea.
La giornata è cominciata molto presto, prendendo il treno verso la stazione Maihama, sulla linea Keio. Da questa stazione si possono raggiungere facilmente sia Disneyland che DisneySea, a piedi o con la Disney Resort Line, un trenino che collega i due parchi divertimento.
This year we celebrated my birthday at Tokyo Disneyland, one of the two Disney theme park in Tokyo (precisely in Chiba 千葉). Tokyo Disneyland follows the classic Disney theme park style, so it has the same areas of the one in Orlando, Florida, and it has attractions like Splash Mountain or the Haunted House. In Tokyo, there is also DisneySea, dedicated to other Disney movies like The little Mermaid, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and Aladdin. From what I have read, DisneySea attracts a more adult crowd and it is a very popular spot for romantic dates.
We are big fans of the classic Disney movies, so we decided to start with Disneyland…even though I am sure the trip to DisneySea will follow soon.
We started the day very early, getting the train to Maihama, on the Keio line. This is the closest station to both Disneyland and DisneySea, which can be reached by walking from the station or by riding the Disney Resort Line.
I biglietti per Disneyland possono essere acquistati online, in uno dei convenience store della catena Lawson o direttamente all’ingresso del parco. Noi avevamo già comprato i biglietti al Lawson, quindi non ci è restato che metterci in fila ed entrare nel parco.
You can pre-order the tickets online, buy them at a Lawson convenience store or get them directly at the entrance of the park. We bought ours at Lawson, so we just queued up at the entrance.
Ad accoglierci, dopo una breve passeggiata nel World Bazar, la via dedicata allo shopping, è il castello della Bella Addormentata. E sul prato antistante il castello, una serie di statue di zucche e fantasmi, accompagnate da alcuni dei nostri personaggi preferiti (Pippo, Paperino & Topolino) vestiti a tema Halloween. Oltre alle decorazioni a tema, una delle particolarità di Tokyo Disneyland durante il periodo di Halloween è la possibilità per gli adulti di visitare il parco vestiti in cosplay. Durante il resto dell’anno solo i bambini possono indossare i costumi dei loro eroi Disney preferiti.
What welcomed us at the park, after a short walk through the shopping street World Bazar, was the Beauty and the Beast Castle. The area before the castle was decorated for Halloween, with pumpkins, ghosts and some of our favourite characters dressed for the occasion. What is special about Halloween at Disneyland? Apparently it is the only time adults can cosplay in the park – this is usually only possible for children.
Nonostante la nostra visita a Disneyland fosse di Lunedì, abbiamo comunque trovato parecchia gente. Occorreva organizzarsi, quindi ci siamo muniti di mappa e abbiamo dato un’occhiata alle attrazioni disponibili. Alcune hanno il cosiddetto Fast Pass, un pass veloce che consente l’accesso senza dover fare la fila, ritornando per l’ingresso in una certa fascia oraria. Queste sono le attrazioni che a Tokyo Disneyland hanno il Fast Pass:
Despite visiting the park on a Monday, there crowds were still quite big. We had to get a map and get organised for the day. Some of the most popular attractions have what is called a Fast Pass: this is a special ticket that allows you to ride at a specific time and to jump the queue. These are the attractions in Tokyo Disneyland that have the Fast Pass:

- Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blaster
- Star Wars
- Splash Mountain
- Space Mountain
- Big Thunder Mountain
- Haunted Mansion
- Winnie The Pooh’s Hunny Hunt
All’ingresso di ognuna di queste attrazioni c’è una macchinetta per il rilascio del Fast Pass: basta inserire il proprio biglietto all’interno della macchinetta e ritirare il Fast Pass. Su questo sarà stampata la fascia oraria in cui ritornare per entrare nella coda per l’ingresso veloce e l’orario in cui si potrà prenotare il prossimo Fast Pass. Vi consigliamo di pianificare bene per cosa usare i vostri Fast Pass e di prenotare quelli per le attrazioni più popolari, come ad esempio Splash Mountain, all’inizio della giornata, perché tendono essere sold out un paio d’ore dopo l’apertura del parco. Ovviamente le attrazioni che hanno il Fast Pass si possono visitare anche senza quest’agevolazione, ma le file sono piuttosto lunghe – circa 2/3 ore per attrazione.
Noi abbiamo usato il Fast Pass per visitare la Haunted Mansion, Winnie The Pooh’s Hunny Hunt, Big Thunder Mountain e Star Wars. Se dovessimo fare una classifica di queste attrazioni, metteremmo sicuramente al primo posto Star Wars, perché offre un’esperienza in 3D totalmente immersiva, poi la Haunted Mansion, che per Halloween era a tema Nightmare Before Christmas. In terza posizione Winnie The Pooh’s Hunny Hunt, che è molto originale perché le carrozze non seguono i classici binari ma ruotano nello scenario immergendo il visitatore nella scena. Ci siamo divertiti anche su Big Thunder Mountain, ma si tratta principalmente di montagne russe quindi è qualcosa che avevamo già sperimentato prima della nostra visita a Disneyland.
At the entrance of each of the attractions there is a special Fast Pass ticket stand, where the wait time will be indicated. You just need to scan your ticket and a Fast Pass will be printed for you. This has the time frame for you to get in the ride (usually 1 hour long) and the time of when the next Fast Pass can be collected. The waiting times are quite long, so we recommend getting the fast pass for the most popular rides, like Splash Mountain.
We decided to use the Fast Pass for the Haunted Mansion, Winnie The Pooh’s Hunny Hunt, Big Thunder Mountain e Star Wars. If we had to rate the Fast Pass rides, we would put Star Wars in first place, as it offers a very engaging 3D experience, then the Haunted Mansion, in the Nightmare Before Christmas limited time edition. In third place is Winnie The Pooh’s Hunny Hunt – this is a trackless ride, which means that you have a front row seat for all the action and you get a fully immersive experience. We also enjoyed Big Thunder Mountain, but this is a classic rollercoaster ride so we put this in fourth place.
Abbiamo trovato in generale tutte le attrazioni di Disneyland veramente ben fatte, con un’estrema attenzione ai dettagli e molto coinvolgenti. La maggior parte della nostra giornata l’abbiamo trascorsa tra Fantasyland e Toontown, due delle sette aree in cui è suddiviso il parco, e tra queste la nostra preferita è stata sicuramente Toontown.
In general, we enjoyed all attractions at Tokyo Disneyland and we were pleasantly surprised by the attention to every little detail. The park has seven main areas, as you can see from the map below, but we spent the majority of our day between Toontown and Fantasyland.
Toontown è la nostra Cartoonia, e qui le attrazioni principali sono la casa di Mickey Mouse e Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin, che trasporta i visitatori nel mondo di “Chi ha incastrato Roger Rabbit?”. Si possono anche visitare riproduzioni della barca di Paperino (la Miss Daisy), la casa di Pippo e quella di Minnie. All’interno di queste case ci sono attività per i bambini, come ad esempio spruzzare vernice digitale per ridecorare la casa di Pippo, quindi vi consigliamo di evitare la fila se non avete bambini con voi.
The main things to do in Toontown are visiting Mickey Mouse’s house and ride the Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin. We especially enjoyed this ride, as we are big fans of the movie. You can also visit Donald Duck’s boat, Goofy’s house and Minnie’s house. There are some activities for children in these houses, like for example painting Goofy’s house.
A Fantasyland invece c’è il castello della Bella Addormentata, la Fairy Tale Hall di Cenerentola, dove si può vedere la scarpetta di cristallo e altre attrazioni a tema Biancaneve e i Sette Nani, Peter Pan, le tazze di Alice nel Paese delle Meraviglie, Dumbo e altri famosi cartoni classici.
In Fantasyland you can find Sleeping Beauty’s castle, Cinderella’s Fairy Tale Hall, and other attractions from Snow White, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Dumbo and other Disney classics.
A Fantasyland ci abbiamo anche pranzato, precisamente nel ristorante della Regina di Cuori. La maggior parte dei piatti in questo ristorante ha un elemento a forma di cuore: il formaggio sull’hamburger, un pomodoro tagliato a forma di cuore e altri dettagli. Io ho ordinato solo un’insalata con un uovo con il tuorlo a forma di Mickey Mouse… mi sono tenuta leggera perché abbiamo anche ordinato una mini-torta di compleanno! Parlando di compleanno, se vi capita di visitare Disneyland il giorno del vostro compleanno, potete dirlo a un membro dello staff e vi daranno uno sticker di buon compleanno. Tutti i membri del cast che vedranno il vostro sticker durante la giornata vi faranno gli auguri di buon compleanno!
We also had lunch in Fantasyland, at the Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall. Here, many of the dishes have a heart shaped element: the cheese on the hamburger, or a heart shaped vegetable. We decided to eat here because they also did birthday cakes! Speaking of birthdays, if you are visiting the park on your birthday, you can let one of the cast members know and they will give you a sticker to wear throughout the day. This way, everybody at the park will wish you happy birthday!
Abbiamo trascorso una bella giornata a Disneyland Tokyo, che si è conclusa con la parata dei carri illuminati, della durata di circa una mezz’ora. Dopo la parata ci sono anche i fuochi d’artificio, che però ci siamo persi perché eravamo in fila per Splash Mountain, che verso la fine della giornata aveva “leggermente” meno fila del solito!
We had a great time at Tokyo Disneyland. We also saw the Night time parade “Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dreamlights”, which lasted around 30 minutes. Unfortunately we missed the fireworks, as we were queueing up to get on Splash Mountain, where the queue was slightly shorter than usual towards the end of the day.
