Questa è una delle frasi più famose del detective Cooper nella serie culto Twin Peaks. Essendo a Seattle per qualche giorno, non potevamo farci sfuggire l’opportunità di visitare alcune delle location della serie TV, che si trovano a circa una mezz’ora di macchina dal centro della città.
This is one of the most famous lines from the cult TV show Twin Peaks. Our trip to Seattle could not have been complete without a tribute visit to some of the locations of this great series. As a matter of fact, they are at just half an hour drive from Seattle and we had the pleasure of visiting them with our friends Lonzo and Macherie.
Cascate Snoqualmie
Oltre a essere le cascate che si vedono nella sigla di apertura di Twin Peaks, le Snoqualmie Falls sono una delle attrazioni più famose dello stato di Washington e ricevono una media di 1 milione e mezzo di visitatori all’anno. Ci sono due punti da cui ammirare le cascate: l’osservatorio inferiore (lower deck) e l’osservatorio superiore (upper deck). Noi abbiamo cominciato dal lower deck, dove si può anche vedere la centrale idroelettrica, e poi abbiamo guidato fino all’upper deck. Qui si può fotografare la cascata dall’alto e visitare anche il Great Northern Hotel (che in realtà si chiama Salish Lodge), dove soggiornava Dale Cooper. Non dispiacerebbe anche a noi soggiornare al Great Northern Hotel, leggere un libro accanto al caminetto con il rumore delle cascate in sottofondo. Se vi può interessare, ci sono due gift shop per comprare qualche souvenir a tema Twin Peaks, uno nel Salish Lodge e l’altro vicino all’observation deck.
Snoqualmie Falls are one of the most popular attractions in the state of Washington and they are visited by an average of 1.5 million of visitors every year. They are of course famous for being featured in the opening credits of Twin Peaks. You can see the waterfalls from two different points: the lower and the upper observation decks. We started our visit from the lower observation deck, where you can also see the hydroelectric plant, and then we drove up to the upper deck. Near the upper deck you can also find the Great Northern Hotel, where Dale Cooper used to leave (its name its actually Salish Lodge). We would really love to stay at the Great Northern Hotel: reading a book by the fire while listening to the sound of the waterfalls must be truly amazing. If you are interested in getting some souvenirs from Snoqualmie Falls, you can find them in the shop inside Salish Lodge or by the upper observation deck.
Twede’s Cafe
Uno dei posti cult di Twin Peaks è la RR Diner, in realtà il Twede’s Cafe. E’ il locale in cui il detective Cooper e lo sceriffo si fermavano per discutere gli eventi dopo la morte di Laura Palmer, e in cui lavorava come cameriera Shelly Johnson. Ovviamente non ci siamo fatti mancare un pezzo di torta alla marmellata di ciliegie (cherry pie) and a damn good cup of coffee…deliziose!
One of the locations we wanted to visit was the RR Diner. It’s the diner where detective Cooper and the sheriff met to discuss the latest development in the case of the murder of Laura Palmer, and where Shelly Johnson worked as a waitress. Of course we had to try the famous cherry pie and a damn cup of coffee…both delicious!
